What would it have been like to
have been chosen to bear the responsibility of caring for the Son of
God?
They
were two very real people with hopes and dreams that would be common
for couples even today. God speaks after centuries of silence, and when
he does he chooses to speak to a young girl and a humble carpenter.
Then in an instant their lives are changed. Every Jewish girl would
have been familiar with the prophecies that a Messiah would one day
come. Every girl likely hoped it would be she who would bear the
Messiah. However, none could have imagined the sacrifice it would
require.

The
sixth annual Dallas Christmas Celebration
presents the musical
drama, Let There Be Light, Saturday through Monday, December 8th
through 10th.
A beautiful rendition of the Christmas story, Let there Be Light
follows the
dreams, fears and hopes of Mary and Joseph from the ceremony of their
betrothal
to the pageantry of the Wise Men.
Meticulously
researched, the story offers an accurate portrayal of ancient
Jewish betrothal practices and customs. It also offers one
man’s vision of what
it must have been like to realize, not only that the Messiah was
coming, but
that he was to be entrusted to a young girl and a poor carpenter.

The
pageant is an original drama written by Minister of Music and Worship
Jonathan Aragon and Associate Minister of Music Brian James. It
includes
original music written and orchestrated by Ginger Bowman and Kent
Spielmann,
both members of First Baptist Church.
